the death of bible reading plans
It was January 1st.
You had researched the wide world of the internets and had come away with multiple options for how you were going to read your Bible through this year.
And then you got it narrowed down to just one plan. The one you would use.
It was so exciting!
Genesis, and the creation of the world, and the story of Abraham and God’s promises to bless the world, moving out into that world!
Exodus, and the story of God and his people, liberation from slavery, Moses and Aaron and miracles one after the other!
And then it happened….
Like so many times before in your read-through-the-Bible efforts. I mean, there you were in the bright, clear space of God’s exciting story only to find yourself entering the fog of Leviticus, trying to feel your way around for the exits.
I get it. I really do. It happened to me for years.
And then God took the fan of his grace, and blew away the fog to help me see the glorious connections to his Good News story in this seemingly inscrutable book. You see, Leviticus helps me see and understand the story of Jesus. As a matter of fact, without understanding the book of Leviticus, I can’t fully understand nor appreciate the story of Jesus (Luke 24:27).
You’ve heard it said that “a picture is worth a thousand words.” So instead of giving you any more words, I’d like to give you some moving pictures, in the hopes of inspiring you to press into God’s story told in Leviticus.
All I’m asking for is about 7 minutes of your time. Trust me, you’ll love this.
And I think it will resurrect your Bible reading plan.
Tolle Lege!
