in the midst of trouble
“Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you preserve me against the wrath of my enemies; you stretch out your hand, and your right hand delivers me.” — Psalm 138:7
from Eugene Peterson, Praying with the Psalms
The themes of praise are vast, and the subjects of praise are glorious, but its accents are always individual and personal:
a prayer has been answered,
a need has been fulfilled,
a sin has been forgiven,
a life has been made whole.PRAYER: I thank you, dear God, for what you have done in my body and my spirit. I know that heaven and earth cannot exhaust your being nor even contain your wonders, but it is what you do in me that makes me want to praise what you do everywhere for everyone, through Jesus Christ. Amen.
